SACC PanelMayflower Partners co-organized a panel discussion on “Scandinavian Start-ups - Insights from Silicon Valley” with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman for the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce San Francisco/Silicon Valley (SACC) on September 25, 2007 at Pillsbury’s Palo Alto office. Five Nordic tech entrepreneurs and venture capitalists described operating between the Nordic countries and Silicon Valley, raising venture capital, and dealing with cultural differences between the two regions. The panel was moderated by Sylvia Burks, Partner at Pillsbury Winthrop, who has represented many Scandinavian tech companies and specializes in corporate securities, mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, and intellectual property protection. The panel included Peter S. Magnusson, former CEO of Virtutech, Linus Lundberg, Principal, Vision Capital, Michel Wendell, General Partner, Nexit Ventures, Eva Solheim, Principal, SVP LLC, and Kari Herlevi, Program Manager, Tekes. Ms. Peterson and Ms. Burks are on the Board of Directors of SACC.

Washington and San Francisco (April 2007) - Mayflower Partners participates in CA Energy Commission cleantech project finance and U.S. Eximbank conferences
Kristina Peterson of Mayflower Partners attended the Export-Import Bank of the United States conference in Washington, DC, on April 12-13, 2007. The conference attracted over 1,000 exporters, bankers, lawyers, international, state and federal government participants. The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) is the official export credit agency of the United States. Ex-Im Bank's mission is to assist in financing the export of U.S. goods and services to international markets. Ms. Peterson attended various presentations on the Environmental Exports Program and on multilateral development bank projects and financing.

On April 3 and 4, 2007, Ms. Peterson participated in the California Energy Commission’s Clean Energy Project Financing conference in San Francisco. The event drew several hundred participants from California and internationally to discuss financing sources and mechanisms for cleantech projects. Carbon credit trading, venture capital, private equity and bank financing were discussed as methods of financing wind, solar, biofuels, hydro, geothermal and other renewable energy projects. The second day was devoted to discussions of emissions reductions which can now be monetized as carbon credits. Various carbon asset management funds presented information on UK and EU emissions trading schemes. Renewable energy credits (RECs), Joint Implementation (JI) and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects were reviewed.

Oakland, California (April 2007) - Mayflower Partners meets U.S. Ambassadors to Sweden, Norway and Denmark at Green Business luncheon focusing on cleantech investments in the Nordics
Mayflower Partners met with the U.S. Ambassadors of Sweden, Denmark and Norway during the Nordic Ambassador Tour "Green Business" Luncheon on April 19, 2007 in Oakland, CA. Ms. Peterson and her fellow Board Members of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce (SACC) were invited by Rod Hirsch, the Director of the Oakland Export Assistance Center, U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Department of Commerce. The event was held at the law firm of Wendel Rosen Black & Dean LLP to discuss clean technology trade and investment opportunities between the San Francisco Bay Area and the three Scandinavian countries. This meeting was part of a three day mission to the Bay Area to develop trade ties between Scandinavia and Silicon Valley/San Francisco in the areas of biofuels, solar power generation, wave power, wind energy, among others. Ambassador Michael Wood of Sweden presented a list of over 30 Swedish companies to representatives of 18 venture capital investment funds at a meeting the same evening in Wallenberg Hall at Stanford University. This mission was in support of Ambassador Wood’s “One Big Thing” initiative to collaborate with Sweden to achieve a break-through in alternative energy.
